The program is available year-round, and the online format enables you to study anywhere, anytime, at your own pace.
The two courses currently offered are:
- Law: How to Think Like an Attorney
- Medical Research: Evidence-Based Practices Behind Medical Discoveries
Law: How to Think Like an Attorney
How do trial lawyers make decisions? What skills do lawyers draw on to gather information? How do they use evidence to make decisions, while avoiding the pull of emotions? In this course, you will learn how to think like a trial lawyer. You will discover a disciplined way of asking questions. You will be encouraged to look beyond the obvious and make decisions based on evidence and analysis of the information you must consider. Youโll separate fact from opinion and exercise the skills you need to be a lawyer and a critical thinker. Want to explore a future in law? This course is for you.
Medical Research: Evidence-Based Practices Behind Medical Discoveries
Every vaccine, drug, and treatment used in medicine is the result of evidence-based research. For a cancer therapy to succeed, medical researchers have to ask a question. Will it work? In this course you will learn the process researchers use to formulate, conduct, and evaluate the evidence they gather. You will be tasked with developing your own study using professional methods. For any high schooler thinking about a future in STEM, medical research, pharmaceuticals or medical school, this course is for you.
Cost and Session Information
All course options, whether 2 or 4 weeks, have the identical educational content, learning materials, and number of assignments. The difference in length of course is due to time of year (not amount of instruction). We know the school year keeps you busy, so weโve made the course longer during that time so that you can get assignments done.
